Shinsuke Yoshitake’s witty and amusing picture books have enjoyed a growing following since his debut title Ringo kamoshirenai- It Might Be An Apple-appeared in Japan in 2013. Here’s to shifting perceptions so that many more international authors, illustrators, and translators can be embraced and enjoyed by young readers everywhere! I hope they will discuss why translators are not (yet!) credited on the covers of English-language editions of Yoshitake’s works. I am beginning to watch this conversation between Eriko Shima and internationally beloved Japanese picture book artist Shinsuke Yoshitake. How will he play outside? How will he stop the cat from tickling his tummy? It's good thing that Mom is around to help. He panics and starts to fear what life would be like if he never got unstuck. While getting ready for a bath one evening, a little boy gets stuck in his clothes. Getting dressed and undressed can be difficult, especially for little ones.
